Gareth Edwards
Graduated as a teacher in 1977 and began my career in west Wales. In 1978 I moved back to my native city of Cardiff, the Welsh capital, and taught in inner city schools whilst completing a post graduate qualification in Sports Science.
In 1979 I was appointed as a lecturer in a large Tertiary College in Cardiff . In 1981 became Head of Department within the college and began to expand the section to include vocational qualifications in sport, leisure, travel and tourism and latterly hospitality.
In 1998 I was successful in getting the Director-Wales post with Springboard, a national charity which specialises in helping young people, the disadvantaged and unemployed get opportunities for work within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector.
I have held a number of additional posts to complement the Wales Director’s role I have maintained, including Director of PR/Comms and Director of Operations. I currently hold the Education brief for the UK.
