Constantly enhancing the quality of our students’ experience is CHME’s number one priority.

Reflecting on teaching practice, producing high quality research and maintaining meaningful links with industry all contribute to the provision of valuable educational programmes. In addition, we encourage students to become actively involved in CHME activities.

Networking with students and academics from other universities and colleges, gaining an understanding of the wider educational environment and engaging in debate can all deliver tangible benefits to students.

Students can attend any CHME events, but the central focus of their involvement is the annual CHME Students’ Conference. Held in March each year, the conference attracts hospitality management students from throughout the UK. The conference is organised and managed by a team of students from the host institution, which in itself is a great opportunity for personal and professional development.

Over 100 students have attended each conference since the first in Surrey in 2005. Each conference students an opportunity to gain first hand knowledge on contemporary issues which are affecting the industry at that particular time period. Many find the contacts and details provided from the various presentations particularly helpful for their final dissertations or theses.
Networking with fellow students from around the UK also proves popular- not least the social events on the first evening.

This conference is a must for all hospitality students so ensure you get your institution and tutors to book you into future years.

Students who want to learn more about this event, or any other opportunities to get involved with CHME, should get in touch: igrebliunaite@bournemouth.ac.uk.
