2021 Sheffield Hallam University

Sheffield Business School, as the UK’s third-largest business school, is delighted to be hosting the 29th Annual Council for Hospitality Management Education (CHME) conference from 12-14th May 2021.

Our conference’s theme is Creating Hospitality Experiences: Authenticity in an Emerging World of Hyper-Reality.

Experience for all stakeholders (customers, staff, investors, education) is the core of the Hospitality industry. With the advancement of the experience economy, the growth of the sharing economy and the proliferation of information and communication technologies, the challenge for the industry is how to continue to create and deliver experiences which are authentic or deemed as ‘authentic’ by stakeholders. This CHME conference aims to debate this from a diverse perspective as the future of the industry hinges on creating experiences.

We welcome contributions based on the following tracks:

  • Hospitality Management
  • Critical and Cultural Studies of Hospitality
  • Learning, Teaching and Assessment in Hospitality Management Education
  • Food, Drink and Society
  • Business Engagement:  Bridging the Gap between Academia and Industry

Submitted full papers should be of approximately 1500 words and will be subject to double blind peer review and are due in by Wednesday 13th January 2021.

If you enjoy fresh air and green surroundings, Sheffield is one of England’s leafiest cities, with 200 woodlands, parks and gardens. Inside the city are the Victorian Botanical Gardens, the modern Winter Garden and peaceful riverside walks. Unlike any other British city, we have part of a National Park within the city boundaries and for those of you who want to venture further – the Chatsworth estate and parkland.

Sheffield  also boasts fantastic music venues, a thriving comedy scene, the largest theatre complex outside London, and plenty of art galleries and museums for you to explore, and we are a short tram ride away the Meadowhall shopping complex with its range of leisure facilities.
