CHME workshop for doctoral students on Abductive Research

What we will cover?

Research in hospitality generally proceed on adopting either inductive or deductive approaches. However, not all research questions may be answered by purely using these approaches. Abductive research might hold the answer to this. The purpose of this webinar is to explore abduction and discuss its applicability in hospitality research and potential use in your doctorate.

 

What will I learn?

• Understanding the abductive philosophy
• Familiarisation with the abductive research methodology
• Example of a case study application of the method

Any doctoral researcher in hospitality and tourism who wants to learn more about abductive research. There is no cost to attend.

About the researcher

Dr Barbara Tomasella is Lecturer in Marketing at Derby Business School, and fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests and supervision include responsible business management, social entrepreneurship, CSR, sustainable tourism and hospitality, as well as qualitative methodologies. Prior to this role, she worked 15 years as professional in sustainability marketing, a commitment recently recognised by being awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability.
