New to Teaching Workshop: Business & Management, Finance & Accounting, Hospitality & Tourism, Marketing

Aim: Bringing together new and aspiring academics in Business & Management, Finance & Accounting, Hospitality & Tourism, Marketing and associated disciplines to discuss common challenges and consider opportunities for the future.

Activities:

o network and share career pathway experiences to date ;

o outcomes of recent ‘New Lecturers’ projects including the ‘Insiders Guide’ Open Education Resource;

o what ‘Academic Practice’ and ‘Being Academic’ means;

o teaching/research/support/service balancing acts and the changing nature of HE in the UK;

o development needs and career opportunities including the UK PSF and HEA Fellowship categories;

o finding and using open access resources;

o discuss discipline-specific contexts where numbers allow.

The workshop is free to attend, but places are limited so early booking is recommended (Booking will open on March 5th).

Attendees may be eligible for funding of travel expenses via the HEA UK Travel Fund.
